Creole United Festival Party feat Andre Thierry & Zydeco Magic plus Los Cenzontles
The mood of this "Southwest Get Down" will be one of excitement, high energy, and a lot of dance! A rhythmic journey that transports all into a full-party atmosphere, celebrating the flavors of Southwest Louisiana and California.

Live entertainment will be provided by Andre Thierry & Zydeco Magic, who boast a finely honed ability to merge traditional Zydeco music with hip-hop, blues, jazz and rock. If you like to dance, Andre will have you moving your feet all night long.

Plus a very special performance by the Zydeco Mexican Connection, Los Cenzontles Mexican and Andre Thierry Creoletraditions showcase a cross-cultural collaboration that celebrates and connects two of America’s rich heritages that have coexisted in our neighborhood for generations. Accordion, Mexican folk guitars, percussion, rubboard, jawbone and zapateado dance combine to color this deep and vibrant new mix. French, Spanish and English mix fluidly, creating a fresh lyrical voice.

Fabulous dishes will be created by Sweetwater Cafe Executive Chef Gordon Drysdale and his Culinary team bringing a taste of Louisiana. Enjoy Gumbo, Andouille Jambalaya and Crab Cakes. Sweet drink specials will offer the smooth flavor of Sammy's Beach Bar Rum, "One sip and you'll surrender". Join us, let's dance, eat and toast to the good life!
Andre Thierry
Andre Thierry
Andre’s career started at the age of three, when the “King of Zydeco,” the late Clifton Chenier deemed him a future accordion heavy-hitter. In that moment it was decided that Andre would apply all his passion and green talent to master that instrument.

Blending a love of traditional Zydeco with a deeply rooted French Creole heritage, Thierry’s original music masterfully combines old and new. The Washington Post dubbed Andre a “master at pumping out fast, funky rhythms on an instrument not usually associated with earthy syncopation,” and described their sound as, “both soulful, traditional slow-dances and bottom-end-booming kinetic groovers.”

Nominated for a Best Regional Roots Music Grammy in 2012 and winner of the West Coast Blues Hall of Fame “Best Zydeco Group” Award in 2013, Andre Thierry will get your feet moving all night long. Put on you're dancing shoes, and come get cozy with these down-home artists and upbeat grooves.
Los Cenzontles
Los Cenzontles
Los Cenzontles (Nahuatl for “The Mockingbirds”) dig deep into cultural traditions, creating a vibrant, con-temporary sound infused with the gutsy soul of Mexi-co’s rural roots. Los Cenzontles (senn-SONT-less) have produced 19 albums with their 20th, Regeneration, re-leased with critical acclaim this past fall. The band has performed across the U.S., in Europe, the Dominican Republic, and throughout Mexico; they have collaborated with artists including The Chieftains, Los Lobos, Los Tigres del Norte, Linda Ronstadt, Ry Cooder, David Hi-dalgo and Taj Mahal, among others.

The group's core members also operate Los Cenzontles Mexican Arts Center in San Pablo, California. The nonprofit has been training Bay Area youth in traditional Mexican music, dance, and art since 1994.
