It's the Book Oscars at the Sweetwater! Join the Mill Valley Public Library and friends as we watch the live PBS Great American Read countdown to reveal America’s best-loved book. Fill out your own ballot predictions for the Top 10, enjoy cheese platters and cookies, and watch the countdown live. After the winning book is revealed, cut loose with musical guests Lorin Rowan and Kirk Casey’s Deep Blue Jam. Don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes!

6:30pm – Doors, ballots, mixing & mingling, refreshments

7:30pm – Raffle for reading challenge & door prizes

8:00pm – Screening the show : PBS Top-10 Countdown!

9:00pm – Musical guests Lorin Rowan & Kirk Casey’s Deep Blue Jam: Featuring Lorin Rowan (lead vocals, mandolin, guitar), Kirk Casey (guitar, vocal), Eric McCann (bass/Santana, Bonnie Raitt), Matt Willis (drums/Maria Muldaur), and Greg Sankovich (keys).

“The Mill Valley Public Library celebrated its centennial in 2011 and welcomes approximately 240,000 visitors annually into the award-winning building with an outdoor deck and floor-to-ceiling windows. Attendees of all ages take part in over 1,200 programs offered each year including After-Hours Lecture and Performing Art Series, children’s story times, playwriting workshops, conversational language groups, book clubs, and storytelling classes. The Library has a Recording Booth, Apple Laptop Lab, Technology Center, Robotics Lab, SmartGarden, Seed Library, and Local History Room. In May 2017, we launched our first library podcast, Eight Books That Made Me, which explores the lives and careers of some of our After Hours guest speakers through the books that influenced them.”
