Charlie Musselwhite doesn’t always get mentioned with the other Bay Area-based rock and blues living legends — including Elvin Bishop, Carlos Santana and Steve Miller — but he deserves it.
The harmonica player has jammed with everyone from Mike Bloomfield, Bo Diddley and Bonnie Raitt to Tom Waits and Cyndi Lauper (yes, that happened), in addition to releasing 30 albums with his own bands (including the Grammy-winning blues album “Get Up!” with Ben Harper in 2013).
Now settled into awesome elder statesman territory, he often plays locally. Musselwhite is scheduled to appear Friday, Feb. 17, at the Raven Theater in his hometown of Healdsburg, and Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley. The Healdsburg show benefits the Geyserville Unified School District.
